Johan had to leave to hide in the firehouse because Germany was taking people of the streets and putting them in camps and had them work. The Nazis would go to the movies and take men they would go almost everywhere to find men to work for them. Dientje decided that they would always keep someone in the kitchen so that they would know if someone was coming. She also decided that they would always have to be ready to get in the closet. They just do what Dientje says. What also happened while Johan was gone was a copious amount of bad things. First Dientje was very nervous. Also there was a house search. The girls where very jubilant that Johan was back. What happened when Johan returned was the Germans lived in their house for a while. This caused one person to stay in the kitchen at all times. So that they could get upstairs before the soldiers would get to the room. The girls get worried though when Johan starts acting like the soldiers are his friends.
I am wondering if the father is still alive and if he will decide to reunite with his family or if he is dead or ran away. I predict that they will reunite there family but still care for the Oostervalds like they are family. Also that people will think Annie is really cool because she was a Jew and Frits will still be her friend. I think that Opoe will die soon though because she always says " I'll be lucky to live another year."
